June Kahn, BS/CPT, is the founder of June Kahn's Bodyworks, LLC and the Pilates Director at Lakeshore Athletic Clubs in Boulder, Colorado. Known for bridging the gap between classical Pilates and the fitness industry, she is also co-author of Morning Cardio Workouts, a Human Kinetics publication. June has been a sought-after international presenter for many years, and is a well-known program developer. Her certifications include ACE, AFAA, ACSM, and the Physical Mind Institute.
June is a first-timer to FitnessFest, coming to straight from Boulder, CO! "Arizona is a beautiful place to visit and to have the opportunity to visit and present is very pleasing to me," she says. She's heard FitnessFest is a smaller venue and is looking forward to the intimate atmosphere for learning.
Like many of her colleagues, she will be mingling with other participants. She enjoys getting to know where they are from and what inspires them to do what they do. "I equally enjoy visiting with presenters as it probably the only time we get to see each other as we are all from different parts of the country," she says.
But when she's not mingling or presenting, she hopes to attend other presenters' sessions to keep herself on the cutting edge of fitness.
One of the best perks of her job as a presenter is traveling, "If I can work it into my schedule, I enjoy a bit of sightseeing, taking in the sights, taste and “feel” of the area," she says. Since June is an avid runner, perhaps she'll take in the culture on foot. (Arizona's famous "Pat's Run" is the usually the highlighted event in April, definitely worth checking out, cheering on, and maybe even participating in!)
Something you may not know about June is that she's a shopaholic! "I love to shop – I enjoy seeking out “boutique “ stores everywhere I visit and also close to home," she says. Maybe she and Len Kravitz, who also enjoys shopping (for antiques primarily), should schedule a FitnessFest shopping field trip!
Her advice for FitnessFest attendees, "Take what I share with you and blend it into your own style. Pay attention to the methodology and the teaching techniques and again, blend it with your own. Use what I share as a learning tool to inspire your creativity and enhance your learning." And, of course, she emphasizes practice, practice, practice...
She leaves us with the following thought "Always be the best that you can be and you will forever shine lighting up the light of others."
This year, June will be presenting the following sessions at FitnessFest:
Pilates Progression
Core Powered Arcs into Angles
SALSAtional Step
Turn the Rhythm Around and Upside Down
